Soccer

The Soccer section has three Women's and three Men's teams in the winter season and one Women's and one Men's team in the summer season. The playing membership of the Soccer section is approximately 100 members. At Meraloma Soccer our aim is to aspire to a higher playing level, while at the same time having fun along the way.

Meraloma Mens' Over 30's

The Meraloma Over 30's Soccer Club was started by Martin Gotel some 10 years ago (1997-1998 season) when the then Metro team were getting on in years. A spot opened up in the NSCL (North Shore Coaches League) and played up until the 2002-2003 season. Within that time Martin handed over the reins to David Nickel and Trant where they saw promotion to NSCL Division 1. At the start of the 2003-2004 season saw the team move to Vancouver and more importantly play at home at Connaught Park (a huge thanks to Simon Witney). The team entered in the WCOTSL 3rd Division (West Coast Over Thirties Soccer League). Quickly promoted to Div 2 where the teams spent 2 years with promotion to 1st in the 2006-2007 season. In 2005-2006 were Cup Winners of the Masters B Cup.

With Trant now in tow for the last few years, the team has been competing well and are a strong team unit that has the years go by the football is more about the social aspect with friends as it is about winning.
