The patio is back
The club patio has re-opened with a Provincially mandated masks optional policy. We have seen over June, a large increase in Loma groups at Connaught and inquiries around booking the club. This blog, and maybe soon to be a newsletter, is a short read on that. The club now is taking more inquiries around events so please email KJ (in the email link) if you have a special event you would like to get off the ground beyond the normal training, game and Saturday events that are now happening. In terms of sports, a quick recap of the Loma sections “return to play:”
Cricket is up and running. The Juniors program is on and a limited adult league is up and going.
Touch Rugby is a thing now and its group is around looking to host events. So we now have a new club section.
Meraloma Bike has about doubled in size to over 80 riders and is supremely organized and has different riding levels. (The Kit is over the top).
Fastpitch has also made a start, and although the woman’s league VWFL league did not run this year, they are training and other Women’s Fast pitch groups have taken up some of that slack to help bring it back. Both Men’s teams are playing now.
Even Soccer, is getting rolling again, and doing it’s part for the teams that can find space on Connaught to keep the club moving forward.
Rugby is busy planning for a full return to play in the Fall.
Field Hockey while on break is also planning as well for a full return to play in the Fall.
So the club is actually expanding, and the individual sports sections are staffed and run by a large group of volunteers coaching and organizing. The club exists because of all that unseen work.
Lomas members should drop by the patio on a Saturday and catch the vibe. The club is on the move, and with the 100th around the corner in 2023, and after the year (and change) we’ve all had, expect some big announcements in the near future.
